Welcome
On 29 January, Parliament amended the legislation governing our Sixth Review of UK Parliament Constituencies and that legislation received Royal Assent on 31 January. As a result we will not be completing the Review. We would like to thank all those who have participated in the Review.
The revised legislation requires us to undertake our next review of UK Parliament constituencies using the electoral register from 1 December 2015, and to submit our report on that review during September 2018.
The Boundary Commission for Scotland is responsible for reviews of:
- constituencies in Scotland for the UK Parliament; and
- constituencies and regions for the Scottish Parliament.
Full reviews of UK Parliament constituencies are carried out every 5 years. Full reviews of Scottish Parliament boundaries are carried out approximately every 10 years, with interim reviews of selected areas sooner if necessary.
The Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland is a separate body which is responsible for reviewing local government boundaries in Scotland. Details of its work can be found at http://www.lgbc-scotland.gov.uk.
