13 December 2010 - The Secretary of State for Scotland has announced the appointment of Paula Sharp as a member of the Commission from 1 January 2011 until 31 December 2014. The Secretary of State has also announced that Ken McDonald has been reappointed for a further 4 years so that his membership of the Commission will now continue until June 2015. The Scotland Office has produced a News Release about the appointments.

11 November 2010 - The Your Area postcode search has been extended to include past UK Parliament boundaries back to 1983.

11 November 2010 - The Scottish Parliament (Constituencies and Regions) Order 2010 (SI 2010/2691) implementing the Commission's recommendations from its First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries has come into force. The constituencies and regions recommended by the Commission will be used for the next general Scottish Parliament election.

1 November 2010 - We've updated our Your Area postcode search to include lookups for the new Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions which will be used in the May 2011 elections. We've also created a new Information Paper on those constituencies and regions, which is available from our Publications page.

21 October 2010 - The draft Scottish Parliament (Constituencies and Regions) Order 2010 implementing the Commission's recommendations from its First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries is to be debated by the House of Lords on Tuesday 26 October 2010.

22 September 2010 - We've updated our Frequently Asked Questions to clarify the availability of data for use in geographical information systems (GIS) showing UK Parliament constituency boundaries and Scottish Parliament boundaries.

21 September 2010 - The Scottish Parliament boundaries for the elections in May 2011 will be available free of charge as data for use in geographical information system (GIS). To achieve this, on 1 October 2010, Ordnance Survey will be issuing a supplementary release to its Boundary-Line™ product which will include the constituencies and regions recommended in the First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries. Boundary-Line™, including this supplementary release, is available as part of the OS OpenData™ portfolio of products. OS OpenData™ products have been made available by Ordnance Survey to all users since 1 April 2010 through the OS OpenData website for free re-use, including commercial re-use. This operates under a licence agreement with the Department for Communities and Local Government.
An enhanced version of these Scottish Parliament boundaries, to the full Ordnance Survey product specification, will be available as part of the Boundary-Line™ product release in May 2011.

17 September 2010 - The Scotland Office is seeking applications for appointment as a member of the Boundary Commission for Scotland from January 2011. The successful candidate will replace Dr Elspeth Graham, who is leaving the Commission in December after 11 years in the post. An information pack, application form and related documents, including the advertisement for the post, can be downloaded from the Cabinet Office Public Appointments website. The closing date for receipt of applications is 15 October 2010.

8 September 2010 - The draft Scottish Parliament (Constituencies and Regions) Order 2010 implementing the Commission's recommendations from its First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries is to be debated by the Fifth Delegated Legislation Committee of the House of Commons at 2.30pm on Wednesday 15 September 2010.

23 July 2010 - The Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Bill 2010 has been introduced to the House of Commons by the Government. Part 2 of the Bill proposes changes to the number of UK Parliament constituencies in all parts of the United Kingdom, including Scotland, and proposes changes to the rules for the design of constituencies, and the processes for a review, which the Commission would have to follow. 16 July 2010 - The draft Scottish Parliament (Constituencies and Regions) Order 2010 implementing the Commission's recommendations from its First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries was laid before the House of Commons on 1 July 2010. The Order is subject to approval by both Houses of Parliament. The text of the draft Order can be viewed on the OPSI website.

15 July 2010 - The Commission's Annual Report for 2009-10 is now available in the Publications section of our website, or can be downloaded as a PDF file from here PDF icon.

14 July 2010 - This web version of the Report on the First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries has been modified to include a correction to Figure E.15.6 on page 191. The updated copy of the report can be downloaded from the Reviews in Progress page.

18 June 2010 - The Commission has issued a joint statement with the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland (LGBCS) clarifying that constituency boundaries are not automatically affected by LGBCS reviews.

17 June 2010 - A new set of maps showing each recommended constituency with local authority ward boundaries superimposed have been added to the Final Recommendations page for the First Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries.

27 May 2010 - The Secretary of State for Scotland has made a Ministerial Statement that the Government intends to lay the Order in Council implementing the recommendations in the Commission's First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries before the summer recess, which is expected to begin on 29 July 2010.

26 May 2010 - The Commission has submitted its Report on the First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries to the Secretary of State for Scotland. The Meeting Papers relating to the Commission's work on that Review from 2007 to 2010 are available through the Publications section of the website.

14 May 2010 - We've moved office - just a few hundred yards to Thistle House, 91 Haymarket Terrace, Edinburgh, EH12 5HD. Our new address is also at the bottom left of each page on the website. Our phone numbers and email addresses have not changed. We will update the address recorded on our various publications.

4 May 2010 - The series of Information Papers has been extended with the addition of maps to UK Parliament constituencies: 2005 onwards and to Scottish Parliament constituencies and regions: 1999 - 2011, and the publication of UK Parliament constituencies: 1950 - 2005. All of the Information Papers are available from the Publications section of the website.

11 March 2010 - The Commission's Corporate Plan for 2010-13 is available from the Publications section of the website.

4 March 2010 - The Commission intends that it will publish all of the Meeting Papers relating to its First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries on this website at the same time as it submits its report on the review to the Secretary of State for Scotland. The Commission expects to submit its report before the statutory deadline of 30 June 2010. See the First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries page.

4 March 2010 - Final Recommendations for regions - The Commission has considered the representations received during its consultation on its Revised Recommendations for regions. The Commission has concluded not to recommend any further changes, and expects that in its report on the review it will recommend the regions that were in its Revised Recommendations for regions. See the Reviews in Progress pages for full information about the Review.

25 February 2010 - We've redesigned the website: we hope you like it. The content has not changed from the previous version, but the structure and clarity have been improved. We've also added the ability to Search the content of the website.

8 February 2010 - First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament boundaries - The consultation on the Revised Recommendations for Scottish Parliament regions has ended. The Commission will consider all representations received.

7 January 2010 - First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament boundaries - The Commission has published its Revised Recommendations for Scottish Parliament regions for a period of one month of public consultation. The Assistant Commissioner's report from the Local Inquiry into the Provisional Proposals for regions has been added to the Regions Local Inquiry page.

7 January 2010 - Minutes from the Commission's meetings in September, October and November 2009 have been added to the Publications section of the website. These are the meetings leading up to the publication of the Revised Recommendations for regions on 7 January 2010.

7 January 2010 - The Financial Memorandum to the Commission from the Scotland Office has been updated, and is available on the Publications section of the website.
