17 November 2013 - We are very pleased to announce that we have added a Map Browser to our website. The Map Browser allows you to view maps showing the current and past electoral boundaries that we have been responsible for. You can select a set of boundaries to view, search for a location by placename or by postcode, and then pan and zoom around the map. The boundary data is displayed on a background of current Ordnance Survey mapping.

30 October 2013 - We have published our Interim Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries and submitted it to the Secretary of State for Scotland. It is available from the pages for the Interim Review and through the Past Reviews section of this website. The Secretary of State will now introduce legislation to Parliament to implement our recommendations.

15 October 2013 - We have published our Annual Report 2012-13. It is available from the Publications section of this website.

9 October 2013 - We have added an Information Paper on UK Parliament constituencies in Scotland in the period between 1832 (the Great Reform Act) and the first constituencies arising from our recommendations in 1950. It is available from the Information Papers page of the Publications section of this website.

30 September 2013 - We have added downloadable shapefiles of past constituencies to the website. They are available from the Data files page of the Maps section of the website. You can use this data with geographical information system (GIS) software. There is guidance on handling this data in the Technical section of our FAQs.

25 September 2013 - Our website has been ranked at no 8 in the Central Government website benchmark by Sitemorse. We're obviously pleased, but would always like to hear your suggestions of how we might improve it. You can read the Sitemorse News Release about their benchmark.

20 May 2013 - Public consultation has now concluded on our Interim Review of the Scottish Parliament constituency boundary between Glasgow Provan constituency and Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency, and the Scottish Parliament region boundary between Glasgow region and West Scotland region, at Princes Gate and Greenacres by Robroyston. We expect to publish our Report on the Interim Review later in 2013.

24 April 2013 - We have published the remaining documentation concerning our Sixth Review of UK Parliament Constituencies. This includes our meeting papers from our meetings since July 2012 and copies of the representations received on our Revised Proposals during our public consultation between September and November 2012. This is in addition to copies of meeting papers from earlier in the review and representations from earlier phases of public consultation which continue to be available on our Sixth Review pages.

17 April 2013 - We are conducting an Interim Review of the Scottish Parliament constituency boundary between Glasgow Provan constituency and Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency, and the Scottish Parliament region boundary between Glasgow region and West Scotland region, at Princes Gate and Greenacres by Robroyston. Details are available from the Reviews in Progress section of this website.

20 March 2013 - We are asking for responses to a questionnaire about our Sixth Review of UK Parliament Constituencies in order to help us improve our procedures in future reviews. We have sent the questionnaire out to those who responded to our consultations during the review. You can also complete the questionnaire online, or using a Word document. If you are going to respond, please do so by 12 April 2013. Full details are on the Questionnaire page for the Sixth Review.

6 March 2013 - We have added maps of our Interim Reviews of UK Parliament constituencies to the website. The maps of the Interim Reviews are available through the Past Reviews section of the website and from the Maps page for each set of UK Parliament constituencies. We have also added maps showing each set of past constituencies to our Information Papers.

5 March 2013 - We have added the Corporate Plan for 2013-2016 to the Publications section of this website.

7 February 2013 - We have added further maps of constituencies from our past reviews to the Maps section of this website. The added maps are UK Parliament constituencies from 1950 to 1997, and European Parliament constituencies from 1979 to 1999. These are in addition to maps of more recent constituencies which were already available. The maps are available as individual PDFs. We will be adding maps showing these constituencies to our Information Papers shortly.

31 January 2013 - On 29 January, Parliament amended the legislation governing our Sixth Review of UK Parliament Constituencies and that legislation received Royal Assent on 31 January. As a result, we will not be completing the review. Full information on our work on the Sixth Review is available on the relevant section of this website. We would like to thank all those who have participated in the Review.

The legislation governing our reviews of UK Parliament constituencies is the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986. The amendments to the legislation which have resulted in the cessation of the Sixth Review are contained in the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013. The text of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, incorporating those amendments, is available on the Legislation page of our website. The text of the legislation as it applied at the start of the Sixth Review is available on the Resources section of the pages on this website relating to the Sixth Review.

The revised legislation requires us to undertake our next review of UK Parliament constituencies using the electoral register from 1 December 2015, and to submit our report on that review during September 2018.

Since revised constituencies resulting from our Review will not now be introduced, we expect that the next general election to the UK Parliament, due to take place in May 2015, will be contested using the UK Parliament constituencies that have existed in Scotland since 2005.

23 January 2013 - We have submitted our Progress Report on our Sixth Review of UK Parliament constituencies to the Speaker of the House of Commons. The legislation requires us to submit a Progress Report to the Speaker each January while we are undertaking a review. The Progress Report is available from the Resources page for the Review.
