Can I get data of current UK Parliament constituency boundaries to use in a geographical information system (GIS)?
Do you issue data for the boundaries that you are proposing during a review?
When we consult on proposed boundaries during a review, we usually make GIS shapefiles of those boundaries available in order to assist people to respond to our consultation. We are able to do so under the terms of our licence with Ordnance Survey. Anyone who downloads those shapefiles is bound by the terms of an End User licence with Ordnance Survey which we make available from the same page where the data is available.
Can I get data of past constituency boundaries to use in a geographical information system (GIS)?
Yes, past constituency boundaries since our establishment in 1944 are available from the Reviews or Data pages of this website. This data is Free to Use Data under the One Scotland Mapping Agreement. There are brief Terms of Use which you can download from the Data Files page.
Can I print, republish or reuse one of the maps on your website?
We make PDF files of our maps available so anyone can print their own copy. If you want a larger map than you can print yourself, we suggest you take the PDF file to a printer for them to do the work. The maps on our website are joint copyright between us and Ordnance Survey. Our content can be re-used under the Open Government Licence, as detailed in our copyright page. Can I view maps of constituencies on your website?
You can use our Map Browser to look at both current and past constituency boundaries against a map background.
What about printable maps?
You can print from our Map Browser. Alternatively, there are PDF maps of all current and historic constituencies available from our website.
Can I buy a map of a constituency?
Not from us. Instead, we have made PDF files of constituencies available to download so you can print it yourself. We have also made GIS data available to download so that, if you have access to GIS software, you can make your own maps of constituencies.
Can I find out which UK Parliament constituency a postcode is in?
We have a postcode search tool on our homepage which allows you to identify UK Parliament constituencies by postcode. Alternatively, the UK Parliament has a facility to look up the constituency for a postcode.
How can I find out all the postcodes that are in a constituency?
The National Records of Scotland creates and maintains products which tabulate postcodes against other geographic areas, including constituencies. You can contact them to ask about obtaining these products by email at geographycustomerservices@nrscotland.gov.uk, or through their website at www.nrscotland.gov.uk.
